Deductions From Wages
There may be times when your employer fails to pay money owed to you. This could be anything from complete non-payment of wages to non-payment of holiday pay or contractual sick pay. If any of the above applies to you, you have a legal right to recover the money.
What Can You Do?
If an employer has failed to pay your wages or has made unlawful deductions there are a number of options available. Usually your first step will be to talk to your employer, supervisor or HR department and ask why your wages have been deducted or have not been paid. If a resolution cannot be reached then it may be necessary to take matters further. You may for instance, wish to lodge a grievance. If this fails to resolve the issue then you may be entitled to bring a claim for compensation.
Please note that a claim must be brought within 3 months of the last deduction therefore it is important to contact us as soon as possible.
